Job summary

Welocalize India Llp is seeking a Senior SDET to test distributed backend systems used in account provisioning workflows. The role focuses on benign tracer/replay testing in staging, analyzing request/response behavior, and documenting lifecycle and state changes.

The ideal candidate has strong distributed-systems and API-testing experience, with disciplined evidence capture and traceability. This is a remote India freelance engagement with a 5-week duration.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years testing distributed systems and analyzing inter-service API behavior.
• Hands-on experience with payload tampering, fuzzing, or adversarial API testing.
• Understanding layered defense architectures with inline vs asynchronous validation.
• Experience with data persistence and relational integrity in backend stores.
• Disciplined test log archival and evidence capture practices.
• Solid knowledge of backend/middleware architecture and failure modes.
• Familiarity with API testing tools and scripting for fuzzing tasks.
• Strong analytical skills for root-cause analysis of complex defects.
• Experience with API replay or staging validation is preferred.
• Experience correlating API responses with lifecycle states is a plus.
• Audit/compliance/evidence-based reporting experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Analyze distributed system APIs to validate correctness, consistency and failure handling.
• Execute pre-approved variations and boundary scenarios against staging endpoints.
• Investigate behavior under malformed inputs and document findings clearly.
• Capture complete request/response evidence including status codes, latency, and headers.
• Validate inline gateway checks and downstream verification pipelines.
• Verify data persistence and referential integrity across services.
• Execute controlled replay suites and compare expected versus observed API behavior.
• Correlate replay results with API schemas and middleware evidence.
• Document account/CID lifecycle behavior and downstream state changes for handoff.
• Archive test logs and evidence for audits and post-incident reviews.
• Collaborate with backend teams to reproduce, isolate, and validate fixes.
• Contribute to test strategy for reliability including failure-mode testing.
• Maintain traceability between test evidence, defects, and requirements.
• Reconcile backend observations with frontend and middleware evidence from prior workstreams.
