Job summary

ZipStaff Inc. is seeking a Senior SDET for a workflow-driven microservices platform. You will own UI, API, and Kafka test strategy, and mentor engineers. Remote US with quarterly travel for PI planning; on-site options in Washington DC, Wilmington DE, or Philadelphia PA.

The role emphasizes automation over manual QA, CI/CD integration, and testing across distributed services, with emphasis on Java/TypeScript.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or 7+ years equivalent.
5+ years testing of complex enterprise systems (manual and automated).
Java and TypeScript for automation.
Strong UI, API, and microservices testing.
Strong SQL validation (relational and NoSQL).
Agile / DevOps delivery.
Able to travel for quarterly PI planning (client covers travel, lodging, and select meals).
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain UI and API automation (Playwright, Selenium, REST Assured, Karate, Java, TypeScript).
Validate distributed microservices, state-heavy workflows, REST APIs (functional, performance, security, authn/authz), and Kafka.
Run SQL checks for referential integrity and state transitions.
Build resiliency tests: retries, failure handling, idempotency.
Embed automation in Jenkins, GitHub, or Bitbucket pipelines.
Use CloudWatch, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, or ELK under load.
Set quality gates with developers, POs, and architects.
Mentor engineers; cover modern plus mainframe/batch integrations.
