Job summary

Qualia, based in Austin with remote possibilities, seeks a Senior SDET to design and scale test infrastructure for AI-driven products. You will own automated testing strategies, build robust tooling, and mentor engineers while collaborating with the reliability-focused team.

You’ll work across the testing pyramid, improve release orchestration, and drive observability inside the automation stack to reduce flakiness and speed up delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer building test infrastructure or release engineering systems.
• Strong programming ability in JavaScript/TypeScript and backend tooling.
• Experience scaling CI/CD systems and test infrastructure at a systems level.
• Understanding of the testing pyramid and appropriate automation strategies.
• Experience with observability in test frameworks and AI-assisted testing tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain test infrastructure, release orchestration tooling, and performance testing systems as production-grade software.
• Design and build test automation frameworks, migrating from Cypress to Playwright, and own core infrastructure like environment provisioning and CI/CD execution at scale.
• Define automation strategy across unit, integration, API, and end‑to‑end layers for reliable coverage.
• Maintain release orchestration tooling across environments and ensure smooth deployments.
• Incorporate observability into test frameworks to track flakiness and performance trends.
• Tackle challenging engineering problems, mentor junior engineers, and drive impactful work with autonomy.
