Job summary

Remitly is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer for Receiver Products in Seattle. You will design and build backend services powering receivers to save and spend money in their home countries, and integrate with Remitly's global money-movement platform.

You will mentor junior engineers and shape architectural decisions, ensuring security and reliability at scale. The role emphasizes ownership, cross-team collaboration, and delivering high-impact projects in a fintech context.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing and operating production distributed systems.
• Track record of owning a project end-to-end — from technical design through launch and operation.
• Solid backend engineering fundamentals: service-oriented or event-driven architectures, RESTful or async APIs, and relational or distributed databases.
• Security and compliance considerations in regulated or sensitive-data environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver backend services that power the receiver-facing financial features, including save/spend workflows.
• Write technical designs and RFCs, and define API contracts within an established architecture.
• Integrate receiver capabilities with Remitly's money-movement platform (disbursements, FX, liquidity, compliance).
• Ensure data consistency, auditability, and secure hand-offs between services; participate in platform standards.
• Operate at scale, meet SLOs/error budgets, and mentor SDE1/SDE2 engineers.
