Job summary

Remitly, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer on the Receiver Products team to build a new generation of financial services for remittance receivers.

This full-stack role covers web, mobile, and backend services and requires shaping technical direction, breaking down greenfield problems, and delivering end-to-end receiver experiences that scale to tens of millions of users. You will collaborate with product, design, analytics, compliance, and engineering peers to turn ambitious ideas into

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Expertise building customer-facing experiences at product scale with TypeScript, React, and/or native mobile development.
• Expertise in one or more modern backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python, with production-quality code.
• Designed and built distributed, large-scale systems including service-oriented and event-driven architectures, RESTful and async APIs, and relational or distributed databases.
• Experience leading large, multi-team initiatives end to end and influencing technical direction.
• Experience using AI throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate AI-native tooling across the development workflow.
• Own technical design and architecture for complex full-stack systems for web, mobile, and backend services.
• Deliver 0-to-1 product experiences end to end.
• Integrate with money-movement, disbursement, liquidity, and compliance platforms.
• Champion security, AML/KYC, and regulatory compliance from day one.
• Ensure reliable, observable, and scalable systems with strong latency and availability.
• Mentor engineers, lead design/code reviews, and uphold architectural standards.
