Job summary

Magnum Paving Buyer LLC is seeking a skilled Screed Operator to join our asphalt paving crew. You will operate, adjust, and maintain the screed to ensure proper depth, grade, and surface finish, working closely with the Paver Operator and Foreman on DOT and commercial projects.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience with asphalt screeds, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to adapt to changing field conditions while meeting production standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience operating asphalt paver screeds on commercial and DOT paving projects.
• Experience with CAT and Carlson screeds; ability to adapt to other makes as needed.
• Strong understanding of grades, slopes, cross-slope control, and paving electronics.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and adjust the screed to achieve proper depth, grade, and mat consistency.
• Control slope, crown, and joint quality; maintain smoothness and uniform asphalt distribution.
• Make adjustments to maintain ride quality and temperature; verify compliance with specs.
• Signal the paving machine operator to start/stop and coordinate with crew for uniform production.
• Perform daily screed maintenance and ensure tools and measurement devices are stored properly.
