Job summary

Turner Mining Group in Bowmansville, PA seeks a Paving Screed Operator to operate the screed on an asphalt paving machine, ensuring a smooth, even, and properly compacted surface.

You will read project plans, coordinate with the paving crew, perform routine checks, and maintain safety standards. This on-site role requires 2+ years of screed experience, ability to work outdoors in varying weather, and keen attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years of experience operating paving equipment, specifically screeds.
• Strong understanding of asphalt paving processes and materials.
• Ability to read grade stakes, blueprints, and layout drawings.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not always required).

Responsibilities

• Operate the screed controls on an asphalt paver to regulate depth, width, and smoothness of the asphalt mat.
• Adjust screed settings to maintain proper grade, slope, and crown according to project plans.
• Monitor asphalt material flow and temperature to ensure consistent paving quality.
• Coordinate with the paver operator, roller operators, and ground crew for efficient workflow.
• Perform routine checks and minor maintenance on screed equipment.
• Identify and correct surface irregularities during paving operations.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
