Job summary

You will manage hands-on molecular biology efforts, test sub-systems, and troubleshoot complex workflows and clinical samples.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related field
• 7+ years with BS/MS, or 3+ years with PhD in biotech/pharma
• Exceptional proficiency in molecular biology techniques incl. nucleic acid extraction, PCR/qPCR, and NGS library preparation
• Direct experience with advanced molecular technologies, particularly NGS workflows
• Proven track record of using, optimizing, and troubleshooting molecular biology protocols
• Experience with experimental design and statistical data analysis
• Ability to perform complex multi-step experiments with careful planning and record keeping
• Experience with challenging clinical sample types (e.g., FFPE, primary tumor cells)
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, ability to mentor others
• Desire to work in a flexible, fast-paced startup environment

Responsibilities

• Lead testing and troubleshooting of new assay sub-systems and existing single cell workflows, including sample processing, library preparation, sequencing, and data analysis
• Prepare high-quality NGS libraries and independently optimize established molecular biology protocols
• Contribute to design decisions for new assay systems and solutions to complex technical challenges
• Master the use of existing tools and defined methods, and lead their improvement
• Conceive and develop new tools and methods to advance assay development capabilities
• Analyze and interpret experimental data to draw conclusions and determine next steps
• Generate intra-functional and cross-functional project sub-task plans, contributing to broader project plans
• Begin to provide technical guidance to junior functional team members
• Partner with R&D, Support, and Marketing to drive assay development priorities and customer-facing troubleshooting
