Job summary

Freenome seeks a Senior Development Scientist I to advance our multiomic, clinical-grade DNA/NGS assays in a production-ready setting.

You will lead verification/validation studies, design robust experiments, analyze data, and present findings to diverse teams across a regulated environment. This onsite role at our Brisbane, CA headquarters emphasizes collaboration and technical excellence.

Qualifications

• PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or related field with 4+ years in life sciences; startups/clinical diagnostics preferred.
• Experience designing and leading verification/validation studies for IVD assays in regulated clinical labs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize DNA-based assays including genome-wide and targeted approaches.
• Lead and execute verification and validation studies; plan timelines and deliverables.
• Document protocols, analyze data, and present results cross-functionally.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and improve assay performance and workflows.
• Collaborate with computational scientists, engineers, and clinical labs to transfer protocols to production.
