Job summary

Arbor Biotechnologies in Cambridge, MA seeks a Scientist/Senior Scientist in Protein Engineering to drive experimental workstreams for genome editing programs. Qualifications

• PhD in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering, or a related discipline with 2+ years of post‑PhD experience.
• Hands-on experience with protein engineering, enzymology, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, or genome editing.
• Ability to evaluate sequence‑structure‑function relationships and translate into design decisions.
• Experience with molecular biology, biochemical, or cellular assays measuring activity, kinetics, stability, or specificity.
• Experience designing, troubleshooting, and interpreting complex protein engineering experiments.
• Strong collaboration with computational scientists and cross‑functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Drive experimental execution for protein engineering workstreams within campaign objectives.
• Design, generate, and evaluate mutants/variants to support genome editing programs.
• Recommend experimental approaches and follow‑up studies with project leads.
• Apply structure‑guided engineering, deep mutational scanning, and AI‑assisted design as appropriate.
• Independently test hypotheses and evaluate variant performance with data‑driven decisions.
• Analyze results, troubleshoot, and propose next steps for iterative cycles.
• Communicate findings clearly to project teams and partners.
