AbbVie Inc. is seeking a Senior Scientist I to join the Cell Line Development Innovation Group.

The role focuses on CHO cell line platforms for recombinant antibodies and complex biologics, driving expression-optimization across vectors and host cells, from design to bench execution. The candidate will craft vector constructs, engineer host cells, perform transfections, clone-generation campaigns, and analyze data to improve titer in stable cell lines, with independence and collaboration across

Qualifications

BS with a minimum of 10 years, or MS with a minimum of 8 years, or PhD with no minimum years in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or related discipline.
Ability to read literature, review sources, and synthesize technically sound ideas with proper experimental controls.
Ability to independently analyze data, draw conclusions, and communicate to a wide audience.
Proficiency with designing and implementing vector improvements to increase recombinant antibody expression in CHO cells.
Proficiency with Geneious Prime or similar software for designing and annotating DNA vectors, primers, and probes, and performing sequence alignments.
Experience with transfection, mammalian cell culture, Octet, ViCell, CloneSelect Imager, and microfluidic clone-screening platforms such as Beacon.
Willingness to learn, multi-task, and meet timelines.
Strong scientific communication skills with detailed daily lab notebook records.

Responsabilités

Independently conceive ideas to investigate CHO expression improvements across vector and host cells.
Design and test dozens of vector constructs in recombinant CHO cell lines and perform transfections and clone characterization to generate data.
Utilize diverse lab techniques including transfection, aseptic CHO culture, DNA copy number analysis, RNA expression analysis (ddPCR / RT-qPCR), and titer measurements.
Operate core CLD instrumentation and assist with maintenance.
Apply understanding of genome-to-protein expression and engineering constraints in CHO development.
Prepare and co-author cell line development reports and present data to teams and leadership.
Collaborate with cell culture, analytics, purification, and bioinformatics to meet project timelines and adhere to safety and documentation standards.
