Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Senior Scientist, Digitalization to join the Chemical Development department at the Ridgefield, CT facility. The role focuses on designing and executing independent research in digital tools, ML, and AI to accelerate reaction optimization and data-driven process understanding.

The Senior Scientist will lead and mentor staff, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to publications and patents while driving the adoption of new technologies within Process

Qualifications

• PhD in organic chemistry required; broad knowledge and ability to design/optimize reactions.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in interdisciplinary settings.
• Ability to work in a team, provide training and guidance to laboratory personnel.
• Experience leading and mentoring staff in a research environment.

Responsibilities

• Independently propose, direct and perform scientific experiments toward project goals.
• Collaborate with process chemists to accelerate reaction optimization using digital tools.
• Develop and implement machine learning and Bayesian optimization models.
• Build predictive models to reduce experimental effort and improve process understanding.
• Integrate data streams from automation, catalysis, HTE, and lab platforms.
• Identify, evaluate and implement new digital technologies and AI adoption.
