Job summary

Cactus Life Sciences is seeking a Senior Scientific Director to lead strategic scientific communications for key biopharma accounts. The role emphasizes organic growth, scientific strategy, and high-quality deliverables across publications and medical communications tactics, with remote work within the US and travel to client locations as needed.

The candidate will mentor a growing scientific team, drive client relationships, and lead scientific pitches while leveraging AI-enabled approaches.

Qualifications

• MD/PhD/PharmD or equivalent advanced degree required.
• 7–10 years in medical communications or related field with success at Scientific Director level or equivalent.
• Integrated experience across medical communications and publications accounts.
• Proven ability to develop and translate scientific strategy into organic account growth with leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to build and leverage senior client and KOL relationships.
• Experience leading client pitches and business development.
• Strong attention to detail with editorial excellence.
• Willingness to mentor and develop team members and build a team over time.
• Experience with congress support and advisory boards is a plus.
• Understanding of AI applications in medical communications and emerging health tech.

Responsibilities

• Shape and drive organic growth plans for key accounts by translating scientific insight into opportunities.
• Develop and implement scientific communications strategy aligned to client medical affairs objectives.
• Serve as scientific lead on pitches and new business development.
• Oversee scientific quality of deliverables across accounts including publications and congress materials.
• Mentor scientific writers and junior directors and build the team.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with client SOPs and objectives.
