Job summary

City of Durham is seeking a part-time School-Age Care staff member to support after-school and summer camp activities. You will supervise part-time staff, help plan daily schedules, and engage participants in indoor and outdoor games, homework help, and health-safety tasks.

The role requires working up to 20 hours per week, with shifts afternoons and some evenings/weekends. Prior childcare or recreation experience is preferred, and a valid NC driver’s license is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in child development or recreation preferred.
• Valid NC driver license or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, lead, and supervise after-school activities and games for children.
• Assist participants with homework using available resources.
• Maintain attendance records and participate in daily scheduling.
• Communicate with parents about updates and concerns.
• Provide basic first aid and supervision during activities.
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to run programs.
• Help with program development and staff training as needed.
• Ensure safety and adherence to licensing standards.
