Job summary

City of Durham is hiring for school-age care roles within Durham Parks and Recreation. You will lead after school, intersession, and summer camp activities, supervise youth, and help with basic program administration.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months experience with youth. Candidates should be at least 18 and able to manage group activities for children aged 5–12, with some water supervision during camps.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED/HiSET/TASC).
• At least 6 months of experience working with youth in organized activities.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience working with children ages 5-12.
• Ability to manage behavior expectations and engage participants.

Responsibilities

• Lead after school, intersession and fun day programs.
• Provide homework assistance when needed.
• Supervise participants and ensure safety and proper behavior.
• Assist in planning and conducting activities and events.
• Communicate with supervisor about concerns and updates.
