Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Scene Generation Engineer to design, develop, and validate high-fidelity 3D radiometric environments and integrate them into real-time hardware-in-the-loop labs. The role requires expert C++, graphics programming, radiometry knowledge, and Linux-based development within a distributed team.

The ideal candidate will mentor junior engineers, drive software quality improvements, and work in a fast-paced setting with DoD development exposure. A secret clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 15 years of progressively responsible software engineering experience.
• Strong OO design and development experience.
• Experience with software architecture and design patterns.
• Experience in graphical programming, radiometry, and real-time HIL environments.
• Proficiency in C++, OpenGL, CUDA, Python.
• Experience with Linux environments and version control.
• Experience with software testing and debugging tools.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead complex model/software development across teams.
• Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and validate high-fidelity 3D radiometric models for scene generation.
• Integrate scene generation software into real-time hardware-in-the-loop labs.
• Develop tools to support model development, analysis, and visualization.
• Review peers' software and provide technical feedback.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and performance.
