Job summary

TGW Systems Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks an experienced Controls Engineer to serve as the SCADA expert across customer projects. You will develop and configure SCADA solutions with Ignition, WinCC, and SAV, diagnose issues in Linux environments, and deploy VMs to keep systems efficient.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and 50–60% travel to domestic and international sites. Collaboration with commissioning and support teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Five (5) or more years of Controls Engineering experience, preferably in material-handling, industrial, or warehouse environment.
• Travel 50 – 60% travel, domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

• Serves as subject matter expert and main point of contact on SCADA-related matters.
• Develops and configures SCADA solutions, including Ignition, WinCC, and SAV (TGW’s proprietary software).
• Diagnoses and resolves issues in control systems and Linux-based environments.
• Troubleshoots and addresses internal and external connectivity issues.
• Deploys virtual machines (VMs) to maintain infrastructure efficiency.
• Conducts basic PLC programming, using Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell Studio 5000, to support automation and controls processes.
• Creates standard documentation to ensure consistent practices and compliance.
• Facilitates training to meet internal and external (customer-facing) needs, as applicable.
• Provides system support to internal teams such as commissioning, Hotline, and other departments, to ensure performance and functionality of critical systems.
• Supports hardware and software commissioning activities as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
