Job summary

TGW Systems Inc. in Grand Rapids, MI, seeks a mid-level Controls Commissioning Engineer to design, develop, and commission control systems for material-handling solutions. The role involves frequent travel to customer sites to support onsite commissioning.

You will work with PLCs and HMIs, write and debug PLC code, and document commissioning activities while collaborating with teams to ensure system performance. 80–90% travel domestically and internationally is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Controls-related field or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years hands-on controls engineering in industrial environments.
• Travel 80–90% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Assist design, development, and commissioning of control systems using PLCs and HMIs.
• Write and debug PLC code and HMI applications for proper operation.
• Integrate control systems with sensors, actuators, and networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet).
• Conduct in-house emulation testing to verify performance before onsite commissioning.
• Support installed systems with preventative maintenance and upgrades.
• Create and maintain documentation of commissioning activities.
• Travel to projects domestically and internationally.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
