Job summary

NextEra Energy Resources, LLC is seeking a Principal SCADA Engineer to lead enterprise SCADA architecture, procurement, and lifecycle management for remote operation of renewable and substation assets. You will translate engineering and cybersecurity requirements into scalable control-system solutions and drive complex capital projects from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET‑accredited) or PE licensure in lieu of degree.
6+ years of experience in SCADA/OT engineering, architecture, and design.
Experience creating SCADA technical specifications, scopes of work, procurement packages, bid evaluations, and vendor recommendations.
Strong knowledge of redundant, highly available SCADA architectures and industrial networks.
Familiarity with cybersecurity for industrial control systems, including segmentation and patch management.

Responsibilities

Define current and target SCADA architectures and designs for control centers and substations.
Lead design activities, develop network diagrams, data-flow models, and redundancy strategies.
Prepare procurement-ready technical specs, interface control documents, and acceptance criteria.
Oversee vendor engagements, bid evaluations, and supplier selections for capital projects.
Guide integration across SCADA, plant controls, EMS/GMS, historians, data lakes, and market systems.
Lead testing, commissioning, and operational turnover; ensure documentation and governance.
