Job summary

First Community Bank seeks a Senior SBA & USDA Underwriter to independently underwrite and structure complex government-guaranteed loan requests in line with SBA SOP and USDA guidelines. You will influence credit quality, compliance, and portfolio performance within a leading GGL platform.

The ideal candidate will have elite government-guaranteed lending expertise, strong business acumen, and a collaborative leadership style to drive growth and credit culture across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 7–10 years of commercial credit underwriting experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of direct SBA underwriting experience required.
• USDA B&I underwriting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience within a high-volume SBA lending platform preferred.
• Prior experience with PLP lending strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently underwrite complex SBA 7(a), SBA Express, USDA B&I, and related government guaranteed loan requests.
• Analyze borrower financial statements, tax returns, projections, cash flow, debt service, collateral, liquidity, guarantor support, and repayment ability.
• Structure transactions in accordance with SBA SOP, USDA requirements, policy, and bank practices.
• Prepare comprehensive credit memorandums and recommendation packages for approval.
• Present loan recommendations to senior management and loan committees when necessary.
• Maintain knowledge of SBA SOPs, USDA regulations, and program changes.
