Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA seeks a Senior Project Engineer specializing in Modeling & Simulation and Signal & Image Process Engineering to lead high‑fidelity analyses of spacecraft performance against contractor designs.

You will guide requirements development, ensure traceability, and support government acquisitions with objective, data‑driven recommendations while mentoring junior engineers and coordinating with government customers and contractor teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience.
• Experience coordinating and leading matrixed technical teams in a program office role.
• Proven experience with multidisciplinary teams of government, SETA, and Aerospace personnel.
• Ability to work closely with contractor personnel.
• Willingness to travel to Aerospace and CONUS contractor facilities about once per month.

Responsibilities

• Lead modeling and simulation efforts to independently assess spacecraft performance against contractor design proposals.
• Provide expert systems engineering guidance to government customers on requirements development and maturation.
• Support competitive source selection by evaluating contractor approaches and design maturity.
• Collaborate with government customers, SETA contractors, and development contractors to meet mission needs.
• Mentor team members in technical duties and program office responsibilities.
