Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle is seeking a Satellite Software and Autonomy Engineer III to design, develop, integrate, and verify onboard autonomy for the TeraWave constellation. You will build robust flight software to support fault management, mission sequencing, and autonomous operations across multiple subsystems.

The role requires hands-on experience with real-time flight software, C/C++, Python, and cross-subsystem integration, plus strong test and verification skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer science, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in mission automation, FDIR, or onboard autonomy for space systems.
• Translate fault detection/response requirements into flight software with SME input.
• Experience with CI systems and automated software testing.
• Experience with Git or similar configuration control tools.
• Experience developing FDIR, sequencing, or onboard autonomy across subsystems.
• Experience developing, integrating, and testing real-time flight software.
• Experience with C/C++, Python, and data formats (XML, YAML, JSON).
• Experience developing test scripts and performing telemetry analysis.

Responsibilities

• Define integrated onboard autonomy behavior across subsystems, including fault responses, mode transitions, and telemetry expectations.
• Develop onboard fault detection, isolation, and response logic across satellite subsystems.
• Develop and integrate flight software for fault management and autonomy applications.
• Develop onboard mission sequencing and mode management logic for key mission phases.
• Collaborate across subsystems including Flight Software, Avionics, GN&C, Electrical Power, and more.
• Create verification scripts, fault injection, and telemetry validation to ensure autonomy meets requirements.
• Partner with Systems Engineering on FMECA, CONOPS, and System Hazards Analyses.
• Maintain table-driven flight software parameters supporting FDIR, sequencing, and mode management.
• Support scalable operations with mission operations and fleet management teams.
