Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Satellite Software and Autonomy Engineer III to design, develop, integrate and verify flight software for TeraWave's onboard autonomy and fault management, enabling a scalable 5,408-vehicle constellation. You will work across subsystems to implement fault detection, mode transitions, and telemetry-driven operations.

Qualifications

• B.S. in a relevant engineering or CS field.
• 5+ years in mission automation or onboard autonomy for satellites.
• Translate fault detection requirements into flight software.
• Proficient in C/C++, Python; experience with XML/YAML/JSON.
• Experience with CI and automated software testing.

Responsibilities

• Define integrated onboard autonomy behavior across subsystems.
• Develop onboard fault detection, isolation, and response logic.
• Develop and integrate flight software for autonomy and fault management.
• Create mission sequencing and mode management logic for nominal/contingency transitions.
• Collaborate with Flight Software, Avionics, GN&C, Electrical Power, C&DH, Propulsion, RF/Communications, and Thermal.
• Develop and execute verification and validation scripts for autonomy requirements.
• Partner with Systems Engineering on FMECA, CONOPS, and System Hazards Analyses.
• Maintain table-driven flight software parameters for FDIR, sequencing, and mode management.
• Support scalable operations across the constellation.
