Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Satellite Software and Autonomy Engineer III to design, develop, and verify applications for TeraWave autonomy and fault management onboard spacecraft. You will build robust flight software, support fault sequencing, and work across subsystems to enable scalable constellation operation.

The role emphasizes hands‑on development, cross‑subsystem testing, and collaboration with systems engineering for FMECA and CONOPS.

Qualifications

• BS in aerospace, mechanical, electrical or CS.
• 5+ years in mission automation, FDIR or onboard autonomy for satellites.
• Translate fault requirements into flight software with SMEs.
• Experience with CI systems and automated software testing.
• Git or similar version control experience.
• Real‑time flight software across subsystems experience.
• C/C++, Python and XML/ YAML/ JSON data formats.
• Develop test scripts and perform telemetry analysis.

Responsibilities

• Define integrated onboard autonomy across subsystems, including fault responses and mode transitions.
• Develop onboard fault detection, isolation, and response logic across satellite subsystems.
• Develop and integrate flight software for autonomy applications and parameters.
• Create onboard mission sequencing and mode management logic for mission phases.
• Collaborate with Flight Software, Avionics, GN&C, Power, C&DH, Propulsion, RF/Comms, and Thermal.
• Create verification scripts including fault injection and telemetry validation.
• Work with Systems Engineering on FMECA, CONOPS and System Hazards Analyses.
• Maintain table‑driven flight software parameters for FDIR and mode tables.
• Coordinate with mission operations to support scalable constellation operations.
