Job summary

PG&E is seeking a SAP Chief Technical Architect to define the long-term SAP technology strategy and future-state architecture across S/4HANA, BTP, Integration Suite, and related platforms. This executive role governs architecture standards, investments, and governance for scalable, secure, and cost-conscious solutions in a Propel-led transformation.

The incumbent will lead cross-functional teams, align SAP with enterprise priorities, and drive readiness for release cycles while fostering

Qualifications

BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field or equivalent experience
12 years in IT
10 years of solution architecture and project implementation experience
Demonstrated leadership across multiple SAP architecture domains (S/4HANA, BTP, integration, data/analytics, development, security, platform engineering, lifecycle mgmt, operations)
Experience defining target-state architectures, multi-year roadmaps, transition plans, architecture standards, governance, and investments for large SAP transformations
Experience influencing architects, engineers, delivery teams, execs, vendors, SI’s and communicating complex tech decisions, risk, cost, and trade-offs to senior leadership
Experience leading a team of technology architects

Responsibilities

Own Propel's SAP technology roadmap and target-state architecture.
Keep SAP strategy aligned with enterprise strategy, priorities, security, and architecture standards.
Evaluate SAP capabilities and recommend adoption based on value, maturity, risk, cost, security, and readiness.
Own SAP innovation backlog and governance for AI, Joule, SAP Knowledge Graph, Build, Event Mesh, and Cloud ALM.
Define SAP governance framework, reference architectures, standards, reusable patterns, guardrails, and signoffs.
Define and govern BTP platform architecture, environments, entitlements, connectivity, security, and cost optimization.
Guide adoption of Integration Suite, API Management, Event Mesh, Build Work Zone, Build Code, HANA Cloud, AI Core, Joule Foundation.
Own future-state integration across SAP, MuleSoft, cloud apps, GIS, OpenText, SailPoint, HR ecosystems; drive API-first, event-driven patterns.
Set direction for SAP data, reporting, analytics, Datasphere, Business Data Cloud, semantic models, data products, quality, and lifecycle controls.
Own SAP Cloud ALM, monitoring, observability, test management, change control, release management, and operational readiness.
Lead readiness for Propel Release 2 and future releases; drive readiness in data, interfaces, environments, security, testing, and ops.
Lead data pull-forward activities including discovery, profiling, cleansing, mapping, mock loads, and readiness reviews.
Maintain program-level technical risk/debt registers and remediation or retirement roadmaps.
Advise leadership and stakeholders on technology direction, trade-offs, investments, and sustainability.
Provide technical direction and mentoring across SAP, data, development, and security domains.
Hold delivery partners accountable for architecture quality, standards, assets, documentation, and operational readiness.
