Job summary

SoFi seeks a Sanctions Advisor to support second-line compliance across SoFi Bank, SoFi Securities, LLC, and the tech platform. You will identify, mitigate, and manage global sanctions risks (OFAC, UN, EU, UK) while ensuring regulatory expectations are met.

You will help develop policies, guide product teams, and work with AML leadership to embed sanctions controls into new offerings throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of sanctions experience in a complex financial institution, including crypto and global sanctions.
• Strong understanding of BaaS products (payments, card issuance, lending).
• Lead development of core sanctions policies, risk appetites, and governance structures.
• Provide advisory support to Compliance and Risk Leadership on high-risk transactions.
• Excellent communication across all levels and cross-functional teams.
• Proven leadership and relationship-building within the organization.
• Knowledge of sanctions compliance across international jurisdictions.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written skills; multitask and meet deadlines.
• Thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
• Analytical and independent project-management capability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sanctions oversight controls framework with risk analyses and inventories.
• Escalate sanctions investigations, including crypto, with regulatory guidance.
• Advise across the product lifecycle as sanctions SME for the enterprise.
• Tune and test payment/name screening to minimize risk.
• Draft risk analyses, reporting, and governance documentation.
• Prepare materials for regulatory examinations, audits, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with AML leadership to align sanctions obligations with product assessments.
• Develop sanctions policies, procedures, and controls aligned with regulatory requirements.
