Job summary

Baker Tilly, a fast-growing CPA advisory firm, offers a career opportunity as State & Local Tax Senior Manager (Income Franchise) to join our SALT practice. You will help clients optimize tax positions and ensure compliance with multi-state taxes across industries.

Must be located in the Southeast. You will work with CFOs of middle-market and Fortune 500 clients, lead complex reviews, mentor staff, and contribute to business development and firm growth.

Qualifications

• 4 year degree.
• CPA, CMI, JD/Law License or EA required.
• Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance or related field; masters preferred.
• 8+ years of state and local tax experience.
• 8+ years in SLT, professional services preferred.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to lead, client service, and stay current on strategies.
• Eligibility to work in the U.S., sponsorship not required.

Responsibilities

• Advise middle market and Fortune 500 clients on state and local tax.
• Manage multi-state reviews for income, franchise, sales and use taxes.
• Research nexus, taxability, and liability quantification.
• Counsel on state tax controversies and filings.
• Plan tax projects including due diligence and disclosure.
• Prepare memoranda on SALT issues.
• Maintain client communications and suggest process improvements.
• Support staffing, billing, and profitability targets.
• Network and build client relationships.
• Participate in firm-wide learning programs.

Education

CPA, CMI, JD/Law License or EA required

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; Masters or advanced degree preferred
