Job summary

Proofpoint is seeking an experienced Sales Engineering Manager to lead a fast-growing team of sales engineers focused on Enterprise opportunities in the Southeast US. You will coach and empower the team, drive complex deals, and partner with account teams to accelerate new and add-on revenue.

A strong cybersecurity background and proven leadership are essential. The role requires travel 25–75% within the region and candidates located in Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolinas, or Northern Florida.

Qualifications

• 2+ years leading sales engineering teams (cyber-security preferred).
• 4–6 years experience as a sales engineer is desirable.
• Strong background in cyber-security (cloud security, network security, incident response, messaging).
• Proven mentoring and development track record for team success.
• Solid sales acumen and ability to drive new and add-on revenue with account teams.

Responsibilities

• Coach, enable and mentor a team of Field Sales Engineers.
• Set shared goals, enable information sharing and mentoring relationships.
• Ramp new team members on engagement rules, AM relationships and technical training.
• Develop and mentor the team to achieve career goals at Proofpoint.
• Handle escalations and resolve customer challenges.
• Partner with Recruiting and HR to attract and retain top talent.
• Be customer-facing and attend meetings with team members.
• Lead ongoing technical training with the team.
• Promote Proofpoint vision to customers at all levels, including C-suite.
• Engage with customers and contribute to target account strategies.
• Collaborate with Professional Services and Customer Success for outcomes.
• Become a student of our security and risk platform.
• Travel 25–75% within the region.
