Job summary

Brookgreen Gardens is seeking a safety and risk management leader to protect staff, volunteers, guests, and property while ensuring a safe, welcoming experience. The Manager of Safety and Risk Management oversees safety operations, supervises staff, coordinates training, and participates in daily safety activities as needed.

The role requires strong judgment, supervisory skills, and a courteous approach with guests and teams.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising staff and coordinating safety operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities and guest-service mindset.
• Current OSHA certification or willingness to obtain within a reasonable time.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Shift Supervisors and oversee staffing, recruitment, scheduling, training, and performance assessments.
• Participate in daily safety operations as a working supervisor when needed.
• Serve as liaison with state authorities and keep management informed of incidents.
• Oversee fire and security systems, monitoring, alarms, and Communications Center operations.
• Maintain and update risk management policies and facilitate Safety Committee meetings.
• Coordinate OSHA-related training and provide annual safety training.
• Maintain AEDs and key control; manage inventories.
