Job summary

ERM in New Jersey seeks a Managing Technical Consultant in Health and Safety to lead complex safety and risk projects for high-hazard industries. You will mentor professionals, coordinate safety programs, and strengthen client relationships while delivering strategic safety and process improvements across engagements.

The role requires 4+ years of consulting experience in safety and a strong background in OSHA/NFPA standards, with travel up to 60% depending on client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 4+ years of consulting experience in safety management, risk management, EHS performance improvement, leadership development, or safety culture initiatives.
• Experience managing client relationships, preparing proposals and contracts, and contributing to business development activities.
• Strong background working within high-hazard industrial or construction environments.
• Experience supporting construction safety programs on active project sites, including contractor and subcontractor oversight.
• Knowledge of OSHA General Industry (29 CFR 1910) and Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926).

Responsibilities

• Conduct electrical safety program assessments against OSHA and NFPA 70E requirements.
• Perform electrical shock and arc flash risk assessments.
• Review arc flash studies, short-circuit studies, and protective device coordination studies.
• Evaluate electrical safe work practices (ESWP) and lockout/tagout programs.
• Conduct fire and life safety assessments for facilities.
• Develop and implement safety and risk management programs for clients.
