Job summary

NFP’s Safety & Risk Consulting (SRC) practice seeks an experienced Construction Safety Consultant to deliver hands-on safety and risk control consulting for construction clients across NY, NJ, and CT, with national project support. This field-based role involves ~60% travel and remote work when not traveling.

The ideal candidate will assess exposures, develop risk-improvement strategies, deliver training, and serve as a technical resource to client leadership and carrier partners.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of progressive construction safety or risk consulting experience.
• OCIP/CCIP experience with safety oversight, contractor coordination and reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in safety-related field.
• OSHA 510 certification.
• SST NYC training completed for NYC projects.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and related rules.
• Ability to identify hazards and translate findings into practical recommendations.
• Strong written, presentation and client-relations skills.
• Valid driver’s license with travel ~60% requirement.
• Field work on active job sites with PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct construction safety assessments and loss-control surveys for clients.
• Evaluate high-hazard exposures and controls (falls, scaffolds, cranes, electrical work).
• Review safety programs, site safety plans and emergency actions.
• Analyze loss runs and incident trends to identify risk drivers.
• Deliver training, briefings, and toolbox talks on safety topics.
• Prepare clear reports documenting observations and risk implications.
• Collaborate with account teams, claims professionals and carriers on safety programs.
• Support OCIP/CCIP program activities and safety qualifications.
• Participate in client meetings and present findings to leadership.
• Stay current with OSHA and local construction safety requirements.
