Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Safety Manager to lead and coordinate safety activities for the field/facilities teams. You will conduct audits, prepare reports, and drive strategic EH&S initiatives to minimize risk and ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and DOT standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related safety field, 5 years of safety experience, and strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline required.
• 5 years’ experience in Safety, including lead experience.
• Certifications in CPR and First Aid preferred.
• OSHA 10hr, 30hr, 40hr training preferred.
• OSHA 500, CHST or ASP certifications preferred.
• Proficient oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of workplace safety laws and regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, EPA and DOT standards.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and health and safety management systems.

Responsibilities

• Manages and coordinates safety activities for the assigned safety team.
• Conducts safety audits and inspections and recommends corrections for compliance.
• Develops reports and presentations for safety briefings with management.
• Provides strategic direction to improve EH&S performance and minimize risks.
• Implements safety manual and ensures compliance by field employees and subcontractors.
• Oversees programs to ensure regulatory and internal policy compliance.
• Guides departmental processes and investigations of accidents; advises on safety initiatives and procedures.
• Provides performance coaching and participates in annual performance process.
• Participates in recruitment and hiring for safety roles.
