Job summary

Southland Industries seeks a senior safety leader to plan, develop, and manage EH&S programs for multiple regions. You will oversee audits, training, incident investigations, and safety policy implementation, coordinating with division leaders and project managers on specialized tasks.

You will drive recruitment for safety roles, coach staff, and ensure regulatory compliance, with a focus on creating a proactive safety culture across all sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline.
• 10-12 years’ experience in EH&S, including people management experience
• Certifications in CPR and First Aid
• OSHA 10hr/30hr/40hr training preferred; OSHA 500, CHST or ASP preferred
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills across all levels of the organization
• Expert knowledge of workplace safety laws, regulations, policies, and best practices (OSHA, NFPA, EPA, DOT)
• Strong organizational and analytical skills to manage program implementation within budget and time constraints
• Ability to promote a proactive safety culture through coaching and resource-based approach
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and health and safety management systems

Responsibilities

• Directs safety audit and inspection programs for multiple regions or divisions.
• Develops and maintains employee safety training programs and records; manages safety policies.
• Participates in safety strategy development for the division.
• Directs investigation of all accidents, injuries and complaints; ensures documentation.
• Manages jobsite safety programs and corrective actions.
• Acts as principal safety resource for the division and determines safety equipment needs.
• Develops and directs department personnel and project managers for specialized activities.
• Provides coaching and performance feedback; manages annual performance processes.
• Manages recruitment and hiring for safety roles.
• Collaborates with division leadership to shape the safety program.
• Participates in acquisitions and planning of upcoming work.
