Avion Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Safety Engineer to support SMDC in Huntsville, AL. The role focuses on safety investigations and system engineering for high-energy laser systems used in lab and test-range operations.

The candidate will work within a government-contractor team to define safe testing procedures, contribute to HWAS and satellite avoidance methods, and collaborate with senior managers to meet project objectives. A rigorous, self-motivated professional is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
• Self-starter with ability to work with minimal direction.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with government managers.

Responsabilités

• Investigate, understand, and evaluate technical issues related to high-energy laser system safety for lab and test ranges.
• Provide system and safety engineering expertise to SMDC during design, fabrication, and testing of Army Laser Weapon technologies.
• Support development of laser components and subsystems to ensure safe testing and operation (e.g., HWAS and Satellite Predictive Avoidance).
• Collaborate with government and contractor teams to define safe laser operations and project requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
