Job summary

Chewy is seeking a Safety Engineer, EHS – Engineering and Design to lead equipment safety design across the Chewy Fulfillment Network, including Rx. You will review drawings, perform risk assessments, and ensure safeguarding and interlocks meet standards.

The role collaborates with Launch, Design, Construction, Engineering, M&R, Operations, and EHS teams from concept through commissioning, with travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of safety engineering experience in warehousing, fulfillment, distribution, or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, CAD files, and specifications for complex systems.
• Knowledge of MHE systems, conveyors, racking, and warehousing infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Act as embedded safety engineering SME for new buildings and equipment deployments across Chewy Fulfillment Network.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams from concept through commissioning.
• Review equipment modifications and process changes to identify design-related hazards.
