Job Description:
We are seeking a Safety Engineer, EHS – Engineering and Design to serve as the expert for equipment safety design and associated engineering standards across the Chewy Fulfillment Network (including Rx)! This role partners with Launch, Design, Construction, Engineering, Technology, Maintenance & Reliability, and EHS teams to establish, interpret, and integrate equipment safety requirements into new buildings, capital projects, process changes, pilots, and equipment deployments. Beginning with initial builds and continuing through commissioning, the Safety Engineer conducts equipment build reviews and technical risk assessments. They ensure machinery, automation, and material-handling systems include appropriate engineering controls and meet safety build standards.
Professional Engineer (PE) license- strongly preferred; PE-eligible candidates actively pursuing licensure will be considered.
Structural background or experience evaluating elevated structures, mezzanines, conveyor support systems, and racking installations in warehouse or industrial environments.
CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or ASP (Associate Safety Professional
Experience with automated material handling systems, robotics, or AMR/AGV technology in fulfillment or distribution environments.
Experience with ISO 45001, ISO 12100, or ISO 13849 implementation and third-party certification programs.
Experience in e-commerce fulfillment, distribution center, or high-volume warehousing environments.
Familiarity with ergonomics principles and their application to MHE and warehousing equipment and process design.
Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
The hourly range for this role is $59.85 - $95.67.
