Job summary

Wayve, based in Sunnyvale, CA, seeks a Technical Director, Safety Case to own the architecture, strategy and integrity of safety cases for its first products. You will provide senior expert safety oversight, coordinating with Engineering and Product to deliver credible, evidence-backed safety arguments.

The role requires deep experience in safety cases for complex systems, strong systems engineering, and collaboration with AI/ML and product teams.

Qualifications

• Deep experience owning safety cases for complex safety-critical systems (AV/ADAS).
• Strong systems engineering across requirements, architecture, verification, validation, and safety.
• Ability to translate technical evidence into structured safety claims and arguments.
• Expertise in autonomous driving AI safety, model performance, data & uncertainty.

Responsibilities

• Own the safety case strategy and architecture for Wayve’s robotaxi and OEM ADAS products.
• Define top-level safety claims, argumentation, evidence structures, and traceability from safety requirements through validation and deployment.
• Partner with AI/ML, Engineering, Systems and Product to define safety requirements and evidence expectations.
• Identify gaps and drive resolution with accountable teams to maintain alignment with the safety case.
• Provide independent technical challenge of safety cases and supporting evidence.
• Coach engineering and product leaders on structured safety argumentation, evidence quality, and traceability.
• Represent the safety case perspective in internal governance, customer and technical discussions.
