Job Overview

Transdev in Boston, MA is seeking a Senior Safety Administrator for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract. The Senior Safety Administrator is responsible for monitoring and enforcing safety measures, policies, and requirements determined by the company and pertinent laws. The candidate will also supervise tasks including completing regular safety checks (job site and employee inspections), identifying unsafe work conditions, assisting with safety projects, and ensuring all safety recommendations are implemented.

Pay & Benefits

$31.00 hourly pay rate.

  • Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the flow of the department and ensure safety compliance at all times; ensure contract compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Provide support in implementing approved recommendations and ensure training of staff on safety and security standards.
  • Oversee the return‑to‑work process, maintaining contact with injured employees and insurance carriers during claims.
  • Coordinate with adjusters and insurance agencies regarding accident investigation, preventability, fault determination, and follow‑up actions.
  • Create and maintain a DQ file for all new hires, review and purge records of terminated employees, and manage electronic and hard‑copy files.
  • Follow up on missing information, report inconsistencies to the Senior Safety Manager – Health and Compliance or Human Resources.
  • Assist with audits of DQ files by collecting documentation as needed.
  • Maintain current database of State and City of Boston School Bus Driver Training and Annual Re‑certifications; schedule trainings per Collective Bargaining Agreement and state/city mandates.
  • Participate in quarterly claim reviews, assist with collision management, and guide claim directions.
  • Maintain OSHA logs and reporting; maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Valid driver’s license; must be at least 21 years old.
  • Three (3) years of general office or file‑management experience.
  • Dispatching or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptability, and active listening.
  • Ability to remain flexible, work under pressure, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Customer‑service oriented, detail‑oriented, well‑organized, and effective time management.
  • Proficient with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to identify OSHA recordable and OSHA reportable events.
  • Self‑motivated, able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Comfortable managing sensitive documentation with confidentiality and decorum.
  • Professional interaction with internal and external customers at all levels; able to work well with diverse groups.
  • Travel requirement outside immediate area: <20%.
Physical Requirements
  • 90% of work is indoors in air‑conditioned or well‑ventilated facilities.
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day) while typing or using a computer.
  • Push/pull objects up to 10 pounds; lift up to 20 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access ground‑level files or equipment.
  • Work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.
  • Job duties may change to meet location requirements.
