Job summary

CompanyCam, a photo documentation and productivity app for contractors, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Platform Team. You will design, implement, and scale backend features primarily in Ruby on Rails, collaborating with designers, product managers, and other engineers.

While backend-first, you’ll contribute across the stack, mentor teammates, and help evolve our culture and processes as a growing team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Ruby on Rails and relational databases with ability to design scalable data models and APIs.
• Experience with Redis, PostgreSQL, and Sidekiq in production.
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI to build or improve tools in products.
• You live and work permanently in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and deliver complex features in Ruby on Rails and related tech.
• Lead efforts to reduce technical debt and improve system reliability.
• Influence architecture and drive long-term improvements across services.
• Set high standards for code quality, testing, and documentation, mentoring others.
• Improve internal tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring for developer experience.
• Facilitate technical discussions and guide decision-making.
• Be a point of escalation for challenging technical issues.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to define feature direction early in discovery.
