Job summary

Avenue Code is seeking an expert-level Ruby on Rails Developer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of core web applications. You will work on a Rails 6/7 stack, handling complex logic for inventory, scheduling, transportation, and processing, building scalable APIs and full-stack features.

In this role you will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver fast, reliable, and secure software, while driving tests and quality assurance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with deep Ruby/Rails knowledge.
• API design, architecture, and interface technologies (REST, JSON, RPC, XML, ProtoBuf, etc.).
• Front-end development with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and jQuery.
• Testing with RSpec or MiniTest and emphasis on test-driven development.
• CI/CD with CircleCI, Jenkins, and related deployment pipelines.
• 4-year degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent training.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain features for a Rails 6/7 application, ensuring performance and scalability.
• Design and consume APIs to integrate with internal tools and vendor systems.
• Handle full-stack development across back-end and front-end interfaces.
• Identify bottlenecks and optimize system performance and response times.
• Collaborate with business partners, vendors, and cross-functional teams; create and maintain technical docs.
• Write automated tests to ensure data quality and reliability across the platform.
