PrizePicks seeks a Software Engineer III with strong Ruby on Rails expertise to join our Gamification team. You will own feature development in Rails backend services powering our core platform, including customer rewards and loyalty programs.

You will guide junior engineers and influence architectural decisions that shape systems end‑to‑end. You will collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to validate decisions while delivering high-quality, scalable software.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience with meaningful time building Ruby on Rails applications.
• History of delivering complex features within a software team to drive business outcomes.
• Experience breaking down ambiguous requirements into concrete technical plans.
• Exposure to large‑scale, high‑throughput distributed systems serving millions of users in real time.

Responsibilities

• Own feature development end‑to‑end—from technical design through delivery.
• Write high‑quality Ruby code that is idiomatic, performant, well‑tested.
• Contribute to architecture and data modeling decisions within Rails services.
• Improve code quality, performance, reliability, and developer experience.
• Guide junior engineers through code reviews and design feedback.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and QA to align goals and implementation.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and root‑cause analysis.
• Document technical decisions and service patterns for team knowledge.
