Job summary

MEDHOST, a division of Harris, seeks a Senior Software Engineer for IBM i RPG development, design patterns, and modernizing healthcare software. This hands‑on leader will mentor others, ensure code quality, and align with MEDHOST standards in a fast‑paced environment.

The role emphasizes RPGLE/RPG IV, CL, Db2 for i, SQL, JSON, REST, secure development, and AI‑assisted tooling within an Agile setting. Remote work is offered across the US.

Qualifications

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree with experience over 5 years.
• 7+ years of commercial product development experience.
• Proficiency in RPGLE/RPG IV, CL, Db2 for i, SQL.
• Understanding of SOLID and OO design principles.
• Experience with Agile delivery in distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, test, and debug technical solutions in compliance with engineering standards.
• Provide effort estimates and complete tasks within defined schedules.
• Identify and recommend improvements for system and process deficiencies.
• Take full responsibility for implementing project parts, including new projects.
• Resolve high‑complexity development issues and enforce deadlines.
• Mentor junior staff and prioritize tasks across projects.
• Adapt to AI-enabled development tools to improve analysis, documentation, troubleshooting, and workflows.
• Discuss and document technical experiences with the MEDHOST PIF system when applicable.
