Job summary

MEDHOST, a division of Harris, seeks a Senior Software Engineer with deep RPG/IBM i expertise to lead, design, and deliver complex healthcare software solutions. The role emphasizes architecture, testing, and mentoring within a fast-paced environment.

The position is remote across the US, offering 110K–135K annually, with extensive experience in RPGLE/RPG IV, CL, Db2 for i, SQL and REST integrations. Strong collaborative and leadership abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree with 3+ years experience or Bachelor's with 5+ years.
• 7+ years of commercial product development experience.
• Proficiency in RPG & CL, DB2 SQL, SQL Procedures and UDFs.
• Solid OOP and SOLID design principles.
• Experience with Agile software development in distributed environments.
• Technical responsibility for shipping a software product.
• Experience with testing types (unit, system, integration, performance).
• Strong mentoring and communication skills.
• Knowledge of cross-platform development recommended.
• Version control experience required.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, test, and debug solutions per engineering standards.
• Provide effort estimates and meet defined schedules.
• Identify and recommend improvements for systems and processes.
• Take full responsibility for project parts and new initiatives.
• Resolve high-complexity development issues.
• Enforce development deadlines and schedules.
• Facilitate task prioritization for junior staff.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to aid tasks and docs.
