Job summary

MEDHOST is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for IBM i/RPG development, architecture, and mentoring within a healthcare technology environment. The role emphasizes hands-on coding, design discussions, and maintaining high-quality, secure solutions in line with MEDHOST standards.

The ideal candidate has extensive RPGLE/RPG IV, CL, Db2 for i, and REST/JSON experience, with strong Agile delivery and mentoring capabilities. This is a remote role open to candidates across the US.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in a related computer or engineering field with 3 years of experience.
• 7+ years of commercial product development experience.
• Strong RPGLE/RPG IV, CL, Db2 for i, SQL, and JSON/REST development experience.
• Experience with agile software development in distributed teams.
• Ability to coach and mentor others.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled development tools.
• Knowledge of cross-platform development.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, test, and debug solutions in line with engineering standards.
• Provide effort estimates and meet defined schedules.
• Identify and recommend improvements for systems and processes.
• Take full responsibility for project parts, including new projects.
• Resolve high-complexity development issues.
• Enforce development deadlines and schedules; prioritize for junior staff.
• Support organizational needs through various duties.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to improve analysis, documentation, testing and development workflows.
• Discuss and apply PIF system knowledge when relevant.
