Job summary

Standard Beverage Corporation in Lawrence, Kansas is seeking a senior Programmer Analyst to join our IT team. The primary focus is RPG development in our IBM i / Power10 environment, designing new solutions and enhancing existing business applications to improve operational efficiency.

This hands-on role requires collaboration with users and IT leadership. This is a part-time on-site position, roughly 25-30 hours per week with no remote work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CIS, Computer Science, MIS, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of application development experience with senior-level responsibilities.
• Expertise in RPG IV ILE, free-form RPG, service programs, and IBM i app design.
• Strong DB2 for i experience, embedded SQL, and SQL-based data access.
• Experience with DDS display files, menus, subfiles, and related interfaces.
• Knowledge of IBM i job scheduling, logs, spool files, and system health review.
• Experience in API, web services, FTP/SFTP integrations.
• MS SQL experience with ETL scripting using SSMS.
• Strong communication with tech teams, vendors, and users.
• Ability to translate business context into executable steps.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain RPG-based applications for critical operations.
• Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, deliver fixes with tests and documentation.
• Gather requirements and design solutions with IT leadership and users to deliver projects end-to-end.
• Create technical documentation including scope, specs, designs, processes and testing plans.
• Support integrations between IBM i apps and external systems via APIs, web services, files, FTP/SFTP.
• Collaborate with infrastructure to plan upgrades and vendor-led changes.
• Analyze current processes and recommend efficiency improvements.
• Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and cross-coverage.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow security practices.
• Provide occasional after-hours support; weekend support not typically required.
