Job summary
Fresche Solutions is seeking a Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst to lead analysis, design, development, and maintenance of IBM i business-critical applications. You will architect solutions bridging legacy reliability with modern efficiency, and provide consulting support to clients.
You will work independently or with a team, applying deep RPG/ILE and DB2 knowledge while contributing to modernization initiatives and best-practice deployment processes.
Qualifications
- 20+ years of proven experience with the IBM i (iSeries/AS/400) platform.
- Mastery of RPG, including RPGLE with Free-form syntax and embedded SQL.
- Expert-level DB2 programming and database design expertise.
- Deep understanding of ILE concepts (Modules, Service Programs, Binding Directories).
- Experience navigating deployment and version control processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication with client personnel.
Responsibilities
- Consult and Collaborate: resolve client issues and deliver end-to-end solutions.
- Architect and Develop: analyze, design, code, and test RPG/SQL applications.
- Quality Assurance: ensure integrity across testing phases.
- Document and Communicate: create clear documentation for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Quality Leadership: lead small technical teams and review database and logic changes.
- Modernize: help transform legacy IBM i apps into modern, scalable ILE solutions.
