Job summary

Symphony Talent, LLC seeks an experienced RPG programmer to support IBM i-based software on an IBM Power server. You will handle development, maintenance, and analysis across apps, focusing on RPG III/LE, SQLRPGLE, CL, DDS, and SQL.

Responsibilities include gathering requirements, proposing efficiency improvements, documenting changes, training users, and providing on-call support. Strong communication and leadership abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years of RPG programming experience in an IBM environment.
• SQL and EDI experience is favorable but not mandatory.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Ability to lead as well as collaborate in a team.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and define project needs based on sponsor input.
• Recommend improvements for efficiency through analysis of existing systems.
• Review complex issues for root cause and resolution options.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Analyze data manipulation, workflows, interfaces, and system environment.
• Maintain high programming knowledge to achieve results.
• Conduct tests to ensure quality programming output.
• Advise departments and suggest programming changes to boost productivity.
• Train users on new applications and maintain docs.
• Monitor performance after implementation.
• Cross-train staff for backup coverage.
• Maintain relationships with departments, vendors, and customers.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for Technology issues.
