Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking an experienced RPG Programmer to develop, maintain, and modernize business-critical applications on IBM i. This contract role combines legacy RPG with modern development, offering a hybrid onsite schedule with four days on site and one remote.

You will work with IBM i RPG III/IV, ILE RPG, CL, DB2 for i, SQL, and web services, troubleshooting production issues and supporting modernization efforts.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on RPG development on IBM i.
• Strong RPG IV / ILE RPG, CL, and DB2 for i experience.
• Experience with SQL and web services.
• Experience supporting accounting systems, particularly Accounts Receivable.
• Experience modernizing legacy applications and codebases.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain applications using RPG III/IV, ILE RPG, and Free-Form RPG.
• Work with CL, DB2 for i, SQL, and web services.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve application performance.
• Support application modernization, integrations, and legacy system enhancement.
