Job summary

Agility Robotics is seeking an Applications Mechanical Engineer/Designer to turn customer use cases into physical CAD models with detailed BOMs for deployments in warehouses and manufacturing environments.

The role involves designing workcell layouts, integrating off-the-shelf hardware, and supporting on-site commissioning with hands-on troubleshooting and collaboration across teams. Hybrid work from Salem, OR or Pittsburgh, PA with up to 20% travel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical design, applications engineering, or designer/drafter roles with deployed designs.
• Proficient in detailed drawings and BOMs in 3D CAD (SolidWorks/Creo or equivalent).
• Experience integrating off-the-shelf hardware into mechanical assemblies (scanners, sensors, actuators).
• Familiar with fabrication methods: sheet metal, machining, weldments, 3D printing; aware of cost/lead-time tradeoffs.
• Hands-on ability to assemble fixtures, troubleshoot fit issues, and work with field technicians.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for site surveys, deployments, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Design customer workcell layouts: robot placement, material flow, safety zones, and integration with customer infrastructure.
• Create custom fixtures, carts, jigs, staging equipment, and material handling interfaces for deployments.
• Test and integrate off-the-shelf hardware into deployment configurations.
• Produce production-quality CAD models, drawings, and BOMs for fabrication and procurement.
• Assist with site surveys and capture physical constraints (floors, ceilings, dock, utilities).
• Support cell setup and commissioning on-site, troubleshooting mechanical fit and hardware integration.
