Job summary

Standard Bots is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer who can blend mechanical, electrical, and software know-how to design and deploy robot integrations on customer sites. You’ll build proof of concept, install cells, wire hardware, write Python scripts, and train customer teams.

This is a hands-on builder role with up to 50% travel, remote-friendly for west coast residents, collaboration with sales, and opportunities to showcase demos at events while shaping our automation platform.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience with industrial automation fundamentals: PLC programming and ladder logic, pneumatics, DC power systems, robot programming, and Python scripting.
• Proficiency with CAD; SolidWorks preferred.
• Customer-facing experience – you can explain a technical integration to an engineer, a plant manager, and an ops director in the same conversation and land differently with each one.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline is required.

Responsibilities

• Design practical, buildable automation solutions around Standard Bots’ hardware and build the proof of concept yourself to validate it works before anyone signs anything.
• Travel to customer sites to install, wire, and commission robotic cells.
• Train customer operators and technicians on Standard Bots hardware and software on-site and at our facility.
• Represent Standard Bots at industry events and trade shows with live demos.
• Feed real-world integration learnings back to engineering teams and assist in-house testing of new features.
